A practice built to work as one
Monday 10 August 2026 was the day Thorpe Street Health opened at 57 Thorpe Street in Rockingham, and a cold Perth morning gave us a break in the weather for it.
Rockingham Mayor Lorna Buchan came to mark the opening with us, which meant a great deal on a first day.
General practice and exercise physiology are both running now. Optometry with E Eye Place and a visiting cardiologist are to follow, and we will say so here when each one starts rather than before.
“10 August 2026 was a special milestone, as it marked the opening of Thorpe Street Health, an integrated medical centre at 57 Thorpe Street in the suburb of Rockingham.”

What integrated actually means here
Plenty of practices describe themselves as integrated. What it means at this one is narrow and practical: your GP and your exercise physiologist are in the same building, so a plan written in one room does not become a referral you are left to chase across town.
That is the reason the practice was set up this way, and it is the part we intend to hold onto as more services start.
“This is more than a new bulk-billing general practice, it is a health hub bringing a range of health services together in one convenient location. As Rockingham continues to grow, accessible and affordable healthcare services are increasingly important to our community.”

Who is in the building
Three general practitioners are consulting from opening day. Dr Ranjitha Ananda Kumar, Dr Ashwin Menon and Dr Perry Lee each see patients of every age, from babies through to older adults, and you can book with a particular doctor rather than whoever is free.
Clyve Tan works alongside them as an ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist, with more than a decade across hospital rehabilitation, aged care, private practice and occupational rehabilitation. He consults in English and Mandarin.
Gary Khoo, Pharmacy Partner at Pharmacy 777 Baldivis, works with the team on medication management and compounded medicines. He is not based here, but he is part of how the practice handles anyone managing several medications at once.
Independently owned
The practice is independent and locally owned, and is not part of a corporate healthcare network.
That is not a marketing line so much as an explanation of why the appointments and the staffing look the way they do. Who gets hired, and how long a consultation runs, are decided here rather than at a head office in another state.
It is also why the two halves of the practice sit under one roof rather than in an arrangement between separate businesses. The exercise physiology room was built down the corridor from the consulting rooms on purpose.
“We were grateful for a break in the dreary weather of a cold Perth Monday morning, as we were also honoured to have Rockingham Mayor Lorna Buchan grace our opening.”
The building itself
The practice was fitted out rather than moved into. Consulting rooms, a treatment room and the exercise physiology room with its reformer and equipment were all built for the job they are doing.
There are rooms here waiting on practitioners as well, which is the honest position rather than a soft launch. We would rather open a room when somebody is in it than list a service and ask people to wait.

Becoming a patient
There is no waiting list and no referral needed to see a GP. Booking online is the quickest route, and reception can take a booking by phone if you would rather talk to somebody.
Bring your Medicare card, any current medicines and any letters or results from other providers. If you are moving from another practice, a transfer of your records can be arranged rather than started from scratch.
If you are not sure how long you need, say what the appointment is about when you book. A skin check, a care plan review and a sore throat are not the same length, and getting that right at the booking stage is what stops a visit feeling rushed.
