What we cover
These are the things people most often book us for.
Coughs, chest and ear infections, urinary infections, pain, rashes, sprains, wounds, and anything that has not cleared up on its own.
Diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma and other lung conditions, heart conditions, thyroid and arthritis — with the reviews that keep them steady.
New prescriptions, repeats, and a proper look at how your medicines work together, including with our pharmacy partner where that helps.
Referrals to specialists, imaging and pathology — and following the results up when they come back rather than leaving you to chase them.
A conversation without a stopwatch, mental health treatment plans where they help, and referral on to a psychologist when that is the right step.
Health assessments, skin checks, cervical screening, bowel and breast screening advice, and the checks that suit your age and history.
Routine childhood and adult vaccinations on the national schedule, and seasonal flu.
Medical certificates, employment and insurance forms, pre-employment medicals, licence and fitness-to-work assessments.
In detail
General practice is the part of the health system that knows you over time rather than one visit at a time. Our doctors handle the everyday — the illness that has dragged on for a fortnight, the injury that is not settling, the script that needs renewing — and they are also the people who hold the thread of everything else.
That is why a practice that knows you is worth more than the nearest available appointment. A doctor who already has your history spends the consultation on the problem rather than on catching up.
In detail
A standard appointment is booked with enough time to deal properly with what you came in for. Some things genuinely need more: a first visit where we take your full history, a care plan, a skin check across your whole body, a mental health conversation, or a minor procedure.
| If you need | Ask for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One new problem | Standard appointment | A cough, a rash, an injury, a script that needs review. |
| Several problems | Long appointment | Say so when you book — two issues rarely fit in one slot. |
| Your first visit with us | Long appointment | So your doctor can take a full history and set things up properly. |
| A chronic condition review | Long appointment | Diabetes, blood pressure, asthma and similar reviews take time. |
| A full skin check | Long appointment | A head-to-toe check is not a five-minute job. |
| Something on your mind | Long appointment | Mental health conversations should not be run against a clock. |
| A repeat prescription only | Standard appointment | Bring the box or a photo of the label if you can. |
How we work
Allied health here is not a separate business renting a room. That is the practical meaning of the name on the door, and it is the main reason this practice was set up the way it is.
Your doctor and your exercise physiologist are down the same corridor, not across town, so a plan does not stall on logistics.
A chronic disease management plan becomes a programme you actually start, rather than a referral you are left to chase yourself.
What happens in allied health comes back to your GP, so nothing has to be explained twice or falls between appointments.
What happens
Call reception on 08 6147 6547. Tell us if you need longer than a standard appointment, so we book the right slot.
Bring your Medicare card, any current medicines, and letters or results from other providers.
You will have time to explain what is going on, and to ask the questions you came in with.
A prescription, a referral, a test, a review date — or all of them — and a clear next step.
Their qualifications, and what each of them focuses on.

No. New patients are welcome and you can book your first appointment the same way as anyone else. You will be asked to complete a short registration form beforehand so your doctor has your history to hand when you walk in.
More common questionsA standard consultation is a single appointment slot. If you have more than one issue to discuss, or something that needs a longer conversation, say so when you book and reception will allocate extra time.
More common questionsYes. Dr Ranjitha Ananda Kumar consults at Thorpe Street Health and her clinical interests include women's health, contraception and family planning, pregnancy and menopause care. Ask for her by name when you book.
More common questionsWherever possible, yes, and we would encourage it. Request your doctor by name when you book. If they are unavailable and your problem cannot wait, another of our doctors can see you and will write back to them.
More common questionsYes. Our doctors see patients of every age, including babies and children, and handle childhood immunisations, development checks and the everyday illnesses that come with school and daycare.
More common questionsYour Medicare card, any concession or DVA card, a list of your current medicines, and any recent test results, specialist letters or a health summary from your previous practice.
More common questionsResults come back to your doctor, who reviews every one. Reception will contact you if you need to come in and discuss them. If you would like to know either way, book a short follow-up when you have the test done.
More common questionsYes. Ask your current practice to send a health summary, or sign a transfer request with our reception and we will request it for you. Bringing your medicines list to the first appointment makes that visit far more useful.
