Paper or electronic, from any Australian pathology provider. It does not need to name Clinical Labs.
Medicare or DVA card
A valid Medicare card, or a Department of Veterans' Affairs card.
Your preparation instructions
Anything your doctor gave you about fasting or timing. Follow theirs, not a general rule.
Nothing else, usually
Most routine collections need no booking. Specialised tests can need one, so check first.

Who Operates the Collection Centre
Australian Clinical Labs operates the collection centre inside Thorpe Street Health. Clinical Labs collects and processes the samples. It also handles the billing and sends the results to the referring clinician.
Thorpe Street Health provides GP and allied health services in the same building. A Thorpe Street Health GP can issue a pathology request when testing is appropriate, and Clinical Labs also accepts valid requests from other doctors and medical practices.
Clinical Labs finishes collecting samples at 12:30pm. The practice stays open for GP and allied health appointments after that.

Appointments and Preparation
Clinical Labs advises that most routine pathology collections do not require an appointment. Attend during collection hours with your request form and your Medicare or DVA card.
Some specialised tests need a booking or specific preparation, and not every collection centre provides every specialised collection. Check with Clinical Labs before attending if your request carries special instructions.
Fast only when your doctor or the test instructions require it. Many blood tests do not need fasting at all.

Costs, and Where Results Go
Clinical Labs bulk bills most eligible pathology tests for patients with a valid Medicare card. Medicare does not fully cover some tests, and it limits how often it covers others, so those can carry an out-of-pocket cost. Ask Clinical Labs before your collection if you are unsure.
Clinical Labs sends results to the doctor or clinician who requested the test. How long that takes depends on the testing.
A Thorpe Street Health GP will review any result requested through this practice and will tell you whether you need a follow-up appointment. If another doctor issued your request, contact that doctor about the results.
